Dead link on RSS feed this morning, HTTP 404 error burnt onto the page.

This network is afraid of me. I have seen its true face.

The forums are extended gutters, and the gutters are full of spam, and when the servers finally crash, all their accounts will vanish. The accumulated filth of all their spyware and viruses will build up about their waists and all the bloggers and hackers will look up and shout "Hotlink us!" And I'll look down and whisper "No." They had a choice, all of them. They could have followed in the footsteps of good services like Wikipedia and Slashdot. Decent sites, that believed in open source and no DRM. Instead they followed the droppings of 4chan and lolcats and didn't realize that the hyperlinks led over a precipice until it was too late. Don't tell me they didn't have a choice. Now the whole world wide web stands on the brink, staring down into bloody hell, all those Myspace-fans and Twitter-users and Youtube-stars, and all of a sudden nobody can think of anything to post.

An Experiment

But first, here's a picture of everyone's favorite video game villain, embossed in a sheet of PhotoShop-created metal.

Anyway, as the title suggests, I've begun an experiment in blogging, entitled Storyboard. (You can also find the link in my menu under "other things."

As the name suggests, Storyboard is an experiment in storytelling. And here's what it is. (Copied and pasted from Storyboard itself)

"This is an experiment inspired by something Sam tried over at his blog. His method, while very clever, was tad bid complex in my opinion. So I'm going to try something else.

And this is the way it works.

Basically, I will begin a narrative, and post it here. I however, will not complete the story.

This is where you come in.

You (should you choose to participate) will add (via email, preferably) another paragraph or so to the story. It can be as long or short as you like.

After a week, I will select my favorite entry, and "officially" add it to the story. Then that week you'll write entries continuing from that point.

The cycle then repeats.

Basically, I write one paragraph, you write another, another person writes a third, etc.

Anyway, here are a few rules for your entries:

1) You can't end the story. And if you choose to do something that would ordinarily end it, you have to write in a way to continue. For example, "A nuclear bomb fell and killed everyone," would not be acceptable. However, "a nuclear bomb fell and killed everyone. Meanwhile, in Zimbabwe..." would be. Basically, you have to give the next person something to work off of.

2) Please refrain from using foul language, please. I won't select anything offensive.

3) Be creative! I like creative entries more than not creative entries. Weirdness helps, too."

What you've been waiting for has arrived... The new layout is here!

In contrast with past designs, this new layout is entirely monochrome. (But you already know this, as you are looking at it right now.) The monochrome is meant to enhance, contrast with, and avoid distracting from the pictures (which are now the only things with color on the whole blog). Also, since the layout has only one image, it loads faster too. (A beneficial, but unintentional byproduct to be certain, but I figured it was worth mentioning.)

I'd like to know what you think of the new layout, so comment any questions, concerns, criticisms, or other things you have to say about the it. Especially be sure to let me know about any technical problems you may have.

iPod Of The Future

The (hypothetical) next next-generation iPod. It has a touch screen, on which the Click Wheel is located. (When not in use, the Click Wheel fades off the screen. A touch of the screen brings it back.) This iPod would also plays videos (as shown), music, and photos. iReckon it'd have about 100 gigabytes of storage.

Lots of people have made iPod concepts, so this is mine. There are lots of similar ones out there, I iMagine. And now the main question: If iHate iPods so much, why do iSpend so much time PhotoShopping them? Quite frankly, iDon't know.

It's obvious Apple's out to conquer the world. And how can Apple better attain this goal than by using Daleks in conjunction with their already devastating iPod? Together, the iPods and Daleks would be UNSTOPPABE! (The ad is inspired by this picture, by the way.)

This was the second set for Something Random, and it was designed by Spartan! Kudos to Spartan for his insane drawing skills.

I also have created, for your viewing pleasure (or horror), a new movie! (Yes, I have two movies in a row. Don't expect it to happen too often.) This one is based off the hit British sci-fi series Doctor Who, and comes complete with cheesy special effects! You can watch the movie here.

The Multimedia Of The Mind comment page, like the name implies, is a page for leaving comments. It is not a forum for bashing others based on their religion, race, ethnicity, etc. However, it seems that people are using it as such.

I got several offensive comments on my last post. (See here.) To me, this is unacceptable. I don't care if the comments are meant as jokes or not. People still get offended.

So from this point forward, if someone tries to use my comment page as a bashing forum, their comment(s) will promptly be deleted, whether the comment is meant as a joke or not. Because there's nothing funny about offending people.

An Exercise In Recoloring...

When a reader of this blog first saw the original, (s)he commented who the car would look good in dark green, and with black wheels. Being the avid PhotoShopper I am, I jumped on the idea and began work recoloring. The result is what you see here.

After long last, I've finished Little Spoon Of Horrors, the HSB version of the hit Broadway musical Little Shop Of Horrors! (Kudos to Andrew, as he helped out with the production.) The Broadway Playbill Contest

The winner of the Broadway Playbill Contest was... Sam! Sam's play, A Capella "...tells the story of a teenage girl who aspires to be an a capella singer. She, along with the help of a naive male friend who is desperately in love with her, spend the course of the play learning how to become a famous singer, in the process learning more about themselves.

The Funky Flag Contest Winners...

Notice the plural for "Winners." Because there's a tie! The winners are, in no particular order... Spartan and Sam! Spartan's flag represents "Quoytopia." The red represents the power of the word "quoy," the black represents the power of the Quoymasters, the wielders of the word quoy, and the tiles at the bottom of the flag spell "quoy" in cuneiform.

Next up is Sam's equally awesome flag. According to Sam, "It's the classic 'ANNOYINGLOGOSLAND (trademarked)', located on the recently purchased Waikiki beach (probably the most touristy spot there is). The flag's stuff obviously represents the annoying logos on it (they are refreshed every month, like a billboard)"

And those were the only two entries to the contest. I hope I get a better turnout for this week's contest.

For this week, it is your job to create a poster or playbill for a new, hit (fake) musical! It can be made in PowerPoint, PhotoShop, using this website, or with anything else you can think of. Be sure to include with your poster...

On this day in 1605, Guy Fawkes attempted to blow up the Parliament building in England as part of the (failed) Gunpowder Plot. Thankfully, he was caught by the British authorities before he could carry out his plan. The English celebrate Fawkes' failure each year during "Guy Fawkes Night," which happens to be today.

Just thought some of you may be interested in a weird little history lesson.

Moving on the the picture...

I made the above picture a little while back after reading some comments on VOA. One of the commenters compared the VOA to V, the Guy Fawkes mask-wearing hero from V for Vendetta. (Great movie, by the way. Lots of mystery and political intrigue. Kind of violent, though.) Anyway, that comment inspired me to create the above logo, which based upon (and made from) V's logo. (See here. And before anyone asks, the red stuff is spray paint.) I made another logo based using the same red-spray-paint style, but I didn't think it was as good. Click here if you want to see that one.

The iHate iPods Contest Winner

The winner of the iHate iPods contest was... Spartan, with this great picture of the iPod Pico, the world's smallest mp3 player! It can hold 1/4 of a song, and comes with a free microscope so you can read the display! (The thing next to it is an amoeba, by the way. Just to give you a sense of scale.)

The second place winner was... Spartan again, with this picture of the planet-attacking iPod Tera! (The tiny thing next to it is the Empire State Building. Again, its there to provide you with a sense of scale.)
